After the crash
The accident is over — but your body hasn't caught up yet.
Physical injuries get treated. The mental side of a collision often goes unspoken, and it can quietly reshape your days. If any of this sounds familiar, counselling can help — and it's likely covered.
Your chest tightens at intersections, on the highway, or every time a car gets close.
The impact keeps coming back — in flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, or out of nowhere.
You lie awake, or wake up jolted. Nightmares about the crash make rest feel unsafe.
Loud sounds, sudden movements, or brake lights set off a reaction you can't talk yourself out of.
Ongoing pain, appointments, and uncertainty pile up until everything feels heavier.
You've started taking the long way, asking for rides, or not going out — and it's shrinking your life.
Your ICBC coverage
Counselling is covered — here's how it works.
Under ICBC's Enhanced Care, anyone injured in a crash in BC is covered for recovery care — no matter who was at fault. Counselling is part of that care, and most people don't realise it's available to them.
ICBC pre-approves up to 12 counselling sessions in the first 12 weeks after your crash — more can be requested if you need them.
Fine Line direct-bills ICBC, so you don't pay upfront and you don't wait on reimbursement.
You don't need a doctor's referral or approval from ICBC to start — just your claim number.
Coverage applies whether you were the driver, a passenger, a cyclist, or a pedestrian.
All you need to begin is your ICBC claim number and your Personal Health Number (PHN). Don't have a claim open yet? Report your accident to ICBC to get a claim number — and I'll help you make sense of the rest during your free consult.
How I work
Practical, evidence-based recovery — at your pace.
There's no pressure to relive every detail of the crash. We start with what's actually affecting you now, then use the approach that fits — often a gentle blend of the ones below.
Practical tools to loosen the grip of anxious thoughts, avoidance, and "what if it happens again" — and to rebuild confidence behind the wheel.
A gentle, body-aware trauma approach that helps the nervous system settle around the accident — without needing to re-tell every detail.
Because a collision lives in the body, not just the memory. We work with the tension, startle, and bracing you feel physically.
A specialised focus for the recurring nightmares and disrupted sleep that often follow an accident, helping nights feel safe again.

Sleep & nightmares
Trouble falling or staying asleep, and recurring dreams about the crash.
Anxiety & depression
The worry that won't switch off, or the low, flat heaviness that can follow an accident.
Pain-related stress
The frustration, isolation, and low mood that ongoing pain and a long recovery can bring.

Paced around youCounselling in your language
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਲਾਹ-ਮਸ਼ਵਰਾ
Support in Punjabi, when it matters most.
Recovering from an accident is hard enough. Explaining how it's affected you in your second language can make it harder. I offer ICBC counselling in Punjabi, so you can speak naturally about what happened, how you're coping, and the toll it's taking at home and at work.
Whether it's driving anxiety, pressure to "just get over it," or wanting a counsellor who gets it without a long explanation — you're welcome here.

Common questions
ICBC counselling in Surrey — FAQ
Does ICBC really cover counselling?
Yes. Under ICBC's Enhanced Care, counselling is a pre-approved recovery treatment for anyone injured in a crash in BC. In the first 12 weeks after your accident, up to 12 counselling sessions are pre-approved, and more can be requested if you need them.
Do I need a referral or ICBC's approval to start?
No. You don't need a doctor's referral or pre-approval from ICBC for the first 12 weeks. All you need is your ICBC claim number and your Personal Health Number (PHN). You can book a free consult right away.
Will I have to pay anything?
Not if you're claiming through ICBC. Fine Line direct-bills ICBC for accident-related counselling, so you don't pay upfront and you don't wait on reimbursement. If any portion isn't covered, I'll tell you clearly before you book.
What if the accident wasn't my fault — or was?
It doesn't matter. Enhanced Care is a no-fault system: recovery benefits, including counselling, apply to everyone injured in a crash regardless of who was responsible — drivers, passengers, cyclists, and pedestrians.
I don't have a claim number yet. What do I do?
Report your accident to ICBC to open a claim and receive a claim number. If you're not sure how, book a free consult and I'll walk you through it and confirm your coverage.
What can ICBC counselling help with?
Common reasons people come in include driving anxiety, flashbacks and intrusive memories, trouble sleeping or nightmares, feeling on edge or jumpy, low mood, and the stress of an ongoing recovery. If the accident is still affecting your day-to-day, it's worth a conversation.
What happens after the first 12 sessions?
If you need more support, your counsellor can request an extension from ICBC on a case-by-case basis. Recovery isn't a race, and I'll work with ICBC so care can continue where it's needed.
Do you offer sessions in Punjabi?
Yes. I offer ICBC counselling in both Punjabi and English, so you can speak in whichever language feels most natural.
Are sessions in person or online?
Both. You can meet in person in Surrey or connect securely online from anywhere in British Columbia — which many people prefer while driving still feels stressful.
Is what I say confidential?
Yes. Sessions are private and confidential. For ICBC claims, your counsellor shares only the assessment and progress reports ICBC requires to fund your care — not the details of what you discuss — and will explain exactly what that involves up front.
Book your free 15-minute consult
The easiest first step — no card, no commitment, just a conversation. Have your ICBC claim number handy if you have one (no problem if you don't). Fill this out and I will personally get back to you within one business day.
