Does this sound familiar?
Something between you feels stuck — and you're tired of the same conversation.
Most couples don't reach out on a good week. They reach out when the same argument keeps coming back, or the closeness has quietly slipped. If any of this lands, you're in the right place.
You circle the same argument over and over and never actually land anywhere.
The logistics work, but the closeness, warmth, and connection have quietly faded.
You want to sort things out, but conversations tip into defensiveness before you get anywhere.
One reaches to fix things while the other goes quiet — and the gap keeps widening.
Something happened, and you're not sure how to rebuild — or whether you can.
A move, a baby, work stress, in-laws, illness — and suddenly you're navigating it differently.
How couples work here
A calm, even-handed space for both of you.
This isn't about taking sides or deciding who's right. We slow the conversation down, get underneath the pattern, and build ways of talking that actually land — at a pace that feels safe for you both. [Joban to confirm couples approach wording.]
No sides, no blame. We make room for each of you to feel genuinely heard — often for the first time in a while — before working on what to change.
Practical, CBT-informed tools to interrupt the cycle of the same argument and rebuild how you talk to — and hear — each other.
So much conflict is old nervous-system reactions firing in the moment. A body-aware lens helps calm the flare-ups, not just referee the surface argument.
Sometimes what shows up between you is also personal — stress, past hurt, ADHD. Individual sessions are available alongside your couples work.
What couples come in for
Where couples counselling can help.
Communication & conflict
Breaking the loop of the same argument and learning to disagree without it blowing up.
Drifting apart
Rebuilding closeness and connection when life has turned you into efficient roommates.
Rebuilding trust
Working through a breach — an affair, secrecy, or broken commitments — honestly and at a careful pace.
Life transitions together
A new baby, a move, blended family, illness, or career stress that's knocked you out of step.
Intimacy & closeness
Reconnecting emotionally and physically when distance has crept in.
Support in Punjabi
Culturally aware couples counselling for family, in-law, and generational pressures — in your language.
Counselling in your language
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿࠗਚ ਸ਼ਾਹ-ਮਸੁਾਾ
Couples counselling in Punjabi, when it matters most.
Talking about your relationship is hard enough. Doing it in a second language — searching for words while trying to be understood by your partner and your counsellor — makes it harder. Joban offers couples sessions in Punjabi, so you can both speak naturally about family, culture, expectation, and everything woven into how you relate.
Whether it's in-law dynamics, pressure between generations, or simply wanting a counsellor who gets it without a long explanation — you're both welcome here.

Common questions
Couples counselling in Surrey — FAQ
What if only one of us wants to come?
That's really common — it's rare for both partners to feel equally ready. You're welcome to start with a free consult on your own and bring your partner in when the time feels right, or come together from the start.
Do you take sides?
No. My job isn't to decide who's right — it's to keep the room fair so you each feel heard, and to help you change the pattern you keep getting stuck in.
Do I need a referral or a diagnosis to start?
No. You can book a free consult directly — no doctor's referral or diagnosis required. Just reach out and we'll take it from there.
What happens in the free 15-minute consult?
It's a relaxed conversation, not a session. You share a bit about what's going on, ask any questions, and get a feel for whether we're a good fit. There's no cost, no commitment, and no credit card needed to book it.
Do you offer couples sessions in Punjabi?
Yes. Joban offers couples counselling in both Punjabi and English, so you can both speak in whichever language feels most natural.
Are sessions in person or online?
Both. You can meet in person in Surrey or connect securely online from anywhere in British Columbia. [TO CONFIRM — whether virtual across BC is offered.]
Is counselling covered by ICBC or CVAP?
Often, yes. If you were in a motor-vehicle accident (ICBC) or affected by a crime (CVAP), counselling is frequently fully funded with no cost to you. Fine Line direct-bills both — ask during your consult and we'll help you find out if you qualify.
Can I use my extended health benefits?
Many extended health plans cover services provided by a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). You'll receive a receipt to submit to your provider. Check your plan for "RCC" or "Registered Clinical Counsellor" coverage.
How much do couples sessions cost?
Sessions are $145 for 50 minutes and $200 for 75 minutes — couples usually choose the 75-minute session so there's room for both of you. Sliding-scale spots are available if cost is a barrier, and the initial 15-minute consult is always free.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what you're working through — there's no fixed number. Some people come for a few focused sessions; others stay longer. We'll figure out a pace and plan that fits you.
I've never done therapy before. Is that okay?
Completely. A lot of people who reach out have never spoken to a counsellor before. There's nothing to prepare — just come as you are.
Is what I say confidential?
Yes. Sessions are private and confidential, within the standard legal and ethical limits your counsellor will explain up front.
