Does this sound familiar?

You've been holding a lot together — maybe for a long time.

Most people don't reach out on their best day. They reach out when the way they've been coping stops working. If any of this lands, you're in the right place.

Running on empty

You're functioning on the outside, but there's nothing left in the tank for yourself.

Shut down or on edge

Numbness, irritability, or anger have quietly become your default setting.

The past keeps showing up

Something you thought you'd moved past still hijacks how you feel today.

A scattered mind

Focus slips, tasks pile up, and you've started to wonder if it's ADHD.

The same fight, again

You and your partner keep circling the same argument without landing anywhere.

"I should be fine"

Part of you thinks you shouldn't need help — and that's exactly what's kept you stuck.

A note for the men who found this page: a lot of guys don't come to counselling until things have already boiled over. You don't have to wait for that. Starting earlier — even just a 15-minute conversation — usually makes the whole thing easier.

How I work

Practical, evidence-based therapy — matched to you.

There's no one-size-fits-all here. We start with what's actually going on for you, then use the approach that fits — often a blend of the ones below.

OEI (Observed & Experiential Integration)

A gentle, body-aware approach that helps the nervous system settle around difficult memories — without needing to re-tell every detail.

Somatic therapy

Because stress and trauma live in the body, not just the story. We work with what you notice physically, not only what you can put into words.

CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)

Practical tools to notice the thought patterns driving anxiety, low mood, or avoidance — and to build steadier ones.

Dream & nightmare work

A specialised focus for recurring nightmares and disrupted sleep that often follow trauma, helping nights feel safe again.

Areas of focus

What I help with.

Men's mental health

Burnout, perfectionism, anger, and the pressure to keep it all together.

Trauma & PTSD

Recent events or old wounds — including nightmares and the "why do I still react like this?" feeling.

ADHD support

Focus, overwhelm, and self-doubt. ADHD-CCSP certified, with assessment guidance where helpful.

Anxiety & depression

The worry that won't switch off, or the heaviness that makes everything harder.

Relationships & couples

Communication, disconnection, and repeating patterns — on your own or together.

ICBC & CVAP counselling

Recovery after a motor-vehicle accident or a crime — often funded, at no cost to you.

Counselling in your language

ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿࠗਚ ਸ਼ਾਹ-ਮਸੁਾਾ

Therapy in Punjabi, when it matters most.

Talking about mental health is hard enough. Doing it in your second language — searching for words while trying to be understood — can make it harder. Joban offers sessions in Punjabi, so you can speak naturally about family, culture, expectation, and everything that's woven into how you feel.

Whether it's stigma at home, pressure between generations, or simply wanting a counsellor who gets it without a long explanation — you're welcome here.

Common questions

Counselling in Surrey — FAQ

Do I need a referral or a diagnosis to start?

No. You can book a free consult directly — no doctor's referral or diagnosis required. Just reach out and we'll take it from there.

What happens in the free 15-minute consult?

It's a relaxed conversation, not a session. You share a bit about what's going on, ask any questions, and get a feel for whether we're a good fit. There's no cost, no commitment, and no credit card needed to book it.

Do you offer sessions in Punjabi?

Yes. Joban offers counselling in both Punjabi and English, so you can speak in whichever language feels most natural.

Are sessions in person or online?

Both. You can meet in person in Surrey or connect securely online from anywhere in British Columbia. [TO CONFIRM — whether virtual across BC is offered.]

Is counselling covered by ICBC or CVAP?

Often, yes. If you were in a motor-vehicle accident (ICBC) or affected by a crime (CVAP), counselling is frequently fully funded with no cost to you. Fine Line direct-bills both — ask during your consult and we'll help you find out if you qualify.

Can I use my extended health benefits?

Many extended health plans cover services provided by a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). You'll receive a receipt to submit to your provider. Check your plan for "RCC" or "Registered Clinical Counsellor" coverage.

How much does it cost?

Individual sessions are $145 for 50 minutes and $200 for 75 minutes, with sliding-scale spots available if cost is a barrier. The initial 15-minute consult is always free.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on what you're working through — there's no fixed number. Some people come for a few focused sessions; others stay longer. We'll figure out a pace and plan that fits you.

I've never done therapy before. Is that okay?

Completely. A lot of people who reach out have never spoken to a counsellor before. There's nothing to prepare — just come as you are.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes. Sessions are private and confidential, within the standard legal and ethical limits your counsellor will explain up front.

Book your free 15-minute consult

The easiest first step — no card, no commitment, just a conversation. Fill this out and Joban will personally get back to you within one business day.

We'll reply within one business day. Your information is private and confidential.
